Who wants to look like Cindy Crawford anyway!
Babers was 2 months old yesterday…I decided it was time for a real work out, not just walking. So this morning I popped in a VHS tape I thrifted a while back of the Cindy Crawford workout (perhaps I take this thrifting thing a bit too far?), I remember doing it in high school a few times and thinking it was good, so surely it will help me now.
Well, one 45 min workout later and I could barely stand because I was so dizzy and felt like I was going to loose my breakfast. I think I over did it. I proceeded to then lay on my bed in the fetal position for 2 hours before the nausea passed. I’m feeling better now, but decided I needed a chocolate cream egg to give me the strength needed to go shower (because totally undoing everything I accomplished with chocolate is the smart thing to do, right?).
I’ve decided the tape is going in the trash and I will continue walking- and NOTHING MORE, because really, who wants to look like Cindy Crawford anyway if it requires that kind of effort 3 days a week. Not me. In all reality I’m pretty happy with my body, just a little tummy jiggle that I would like to eliminate is all. Surely there is another way…

Have you heard of Lindsay Brin? She designs work outs for moms. I have been using her Boot Camp 2 DVD for the last 3 months. I have finally started to loose some weight, and am feeling better, without it being a killing workout every time.

You know, funny that you mentioned Cindy Crawford. I actually found her “New Dimension” ( for post-partum moms) workout very helpful and it really was a beginning for me of getting back in shape. And I enjoyed that there were 3 levels of workouts (I never worked out in my life until after I had my first baby).
If you tried doing Next Challenge tape, than yes, it’s definitely a killer at first
When I got to the point that I felt New Dimension was too easy for me, I switched to Next Challenge and it took me a while before I was comfortable doing everything. I really didn’t know much about workouts back then, 5 years ago, but those two did their job well and got me from size 12 to size 6 in less than a year (combined with lots and lots of walking and better eating
Now 3 kids later I’ve seen many different workout DVDs, yoga, pilates, Jillian Michaels, pre-natal, post-natal, and not. And I still think that Cindy Crawford ones are some of the best I’ve tried… So maybe you could check out the post-natal workout and see how you like it. The first level is really quite gentle and refreshing.
disclaimer: I’m all for feeling good in whatever skin you are in at the moment
I think no workout can make you look good enough if you are not comfortable with your body in the first place.

Haha! I totally understand. More than you know. My mom and I started a weight loss blog a couple months ago for fitness and healthy eating ideas for normal people. Feel free to come join us anytime.

I still haven’t quite worked off the soft tummy, but I’m getting there… I hope.

I think you look fabulous. But I understand the want of feeling better. And since sleeping more isn’t really an option, exercising is the next best thing. I think walking does more good than anything else but we used to do the Buns of Steel in High School and if I could find that, I would probably try to do that (next Fall, of course).

Walking is the best. You look great, and you eat very healthy food. You don’t need to go crazy with the excercise. Just get your heartrate up everyday and you’ll be great.
I remember Buns of Steel, Karin. I still giggle over that guy every now and then.

Oh my, I can relate. I got on the treadmill yesterday and almost died!
I am going to stick with walking too. For now, it will have to be on the treadmill. Wish I could go outside like you guys. Soon enough this winter will be over!
