Weekend Workings

* Thanks for the hallway tips…I looked at some rugs today and am still unsure. I think I’ll get the paint on the walls before I buy anything.

We’ve had a lovely holiday weekend here with lots of family and lots of good food. Today my husband kindly ran off with our children while I caught up on some projects and my netflix queue.

Work In Progress

This little guy is part of my custom order for Frances Vintage, I plan to back it in this Alexander Henry print. I still need to create one more set of burp clothes and I am a little stumped on a pattern, it needs to be small and I think I want the next set to be decidedly girly, feel free to offer suggestions!

On another note, I am up to my eyeballs in custom orders (this is NOT a complaint!) and I just received an invitation to a baby shower for this Thursday! The first time parents do not know the gender of their child. What sort of gender neutral item can I whip up in a short amount of time? Help me please!

    That Jack-in-the-Box is going to be so cute with that fabric- very whimsical.
    Turtles are gender neutral and if I remember right, you have embroidered a turtle before that was really cute.

    Ducks and frogs. And purple dinosaurs.

    Congrats on all the custom orders! Very cool! As for gender neutral … given your current schedule, you may not have time to do a blanket, so … and embroidered onsies would be super cute, or a onesie with a matching burp cloth, or an embroidered burp cloth with 3 coordinating cloths trimmed in ribbon in fun primary colors would also be super cute and so functional for a new mom!

    Hmm…

    You know? I LOVED the thin flannel blankets for newborns, but they were always SO small. I bet if you did one in a yellow or sage green that was BIG with a cute stitch trim and a corner appliqué it would be SO cute and useful.

    I imagine a baby in Arizona could use a light blanket like that with plenty of volume. Plus, it would be a snap.

    Heather, congrats on wholesaling for the shop – it looks darling!

    My standard baby shower gift include:
    appliqued or embroidered onesie with matching burpie or bib;
    a set of three soft blocks or balls;
    or a set of three coordinating bibs.
    I’d do an embroidered blankie or a quilt if the gift was for someone extra special, and I had enough time.
