Warm & Cozy

Yesterday was a wonderful winter day here in the valley of eternal sun.  It was cool, the skies were grey and it rained almost all afternoon.  Days like that just cry out for baking, and who am I to tempt the fates of mother nature?  So, I baked, and stewed.

Lemony Goodness

With a warm and crackling fire we had pot roast with potatoes, roast carrots and crusty bread for dinner- followed by this yummy lemony cake.  It was really hard to leave home to attend a fundraiser meeting at my sons school.  By the time I got home the fire was out and the kids were in that crazy “run around the house and make messes because its almost bedtime” phase….sigh….

I also wanted to show you 2 of the fun things I picked up at crafeteria last friday night:

Sparkly

This great little vintage pin…I really love costume jewelry, it’s so fun to wear!  I don’t have a good lens for macro shots like this….sorry…

Of course I had to go into smeeks, after stuffing my bag with “Pot-o-Gold’s” I searched for something for the kids, I found these new (and totally fun) candy blocks for my son the Lego fanatic.

Block Candy

They actually stick together a bit when you build with them.  My son built lots of towers before eating them.  I may have to get another set to stick in his stocking.

If you are local and looking for an excuse to visit smeeks; I’m going to be having a smeeks giveaway soon, hopefully by next week I’ll have it ready, so be sure to come back!

Oh- and I forgot to mention.  I am sure you have seen Lynne Bonnell’s pumpkins, they’ve been featured all over the interwebs, they are a velvety goodness.  She had a booth at crafeteria and introduced her new line of velvet christmas trees- they are BEAUTIFUL!  I’ve looked around for pics of them but can’t find any.  Sarah bought one of the felt trees, maybe she’ll post a photo of it on her blog.

Have a great Tuesday!

We LOVE the LEGO candies here. They are a gingerbread house candy staple. Not super easy to find, but on the things you can do with them – so much fun! And the broach is beautiful – what a find.
