Theodore Roosevelt
To “celebrate” President’s Day we took the children to the Theodore Roosevelt Dam.
A mighty impressive structure. I was a bit disappointed to know that I was 20 years too late to see the original masonry structure (which is now covered in the concrete you see here). If you are a bit of a American History buff like myself, you can read more about the structure here and here (or maybe you want to read more about Teddy Roosevelt in this book I heard about that I am dying to read).
Roosevelt Lake Bridge is the longest, single span, two lane, steel arch bridge in all of North America. It is really a beautiful bridge, but sadly we did not drive over it, we just admired it!
At one of the look out stations, my daughter noticed this bird nest in a tree. I just love how this image turned out! Aaron lifted said daughter up to check for eggs (nope). It was truly a wonderful day with my family (despite spending an hour stuck in all the Renaissance Fair traffic!)
I don’t know how many of my readers are from Arizona, or if you plan to visit our great state, but be sure you check out my Arizona category, there are so many neat places to see and visit. Weather and schedules permitting, I hope to bring you more of the beauty Arizona has to offer.
