The Cat Is Out of The Bag

Retro Cat

If you are in the Phoenix area you can now drop in on Georganne at Frances Vintage and buy my Embroidered Onesies. It was a long time coming and I am pretty excited about it. She’ll be adding my burp cloths to her stock as well…very soon. We are also working together on an exclusive line of onesies for the online shop- slated to open later this year.

Because I am so giddy I decided to start this new blog with a bang and have a giveaway- while also highlighting a really talented artist. A few weeks ago I stumbled on doe-c-doe’s flickr stream. WOW, I loved her designs and her use of light in her photographs. She is a graphic designer by day and an amazing crafter/thrifter by night! She created a great cat pillow template from a vintage pillow she picked up. The cat reminded me so much of a fabric that I thrifted back in the late 90′s in kansas. I searched and found the last remnant of the fabric.

And, I am going to give it away to one lucky crafter, she would be great for appliqué! Leave me a comment and tell me about your best thrifty find. Monday 2/11 I’ll pick a winner and mail Miss Kitty off!

I love the new site! I’m so glad that you created it.
I wish that I could see the photos but my Flickr is STILL not showing up. :( :(

Kudos to you on this new enterprise and congrats on having your adorable things sold.

Welcome to blogging! The kitty is so cute. I, too, appreciate doe-c-doe. She’s great.

My best thrift find is vintage buttons. I use them on my stuffies. They add a lot of character.

I love! that kitty, and I am not normally a feline person, crafty or otherwise. I’m still relatively new on the craft circuit, but I just wanted to chime in to say “hello!” and “you are awesome” and whatnot. : )

Heather, I am so excited for you! Major props to you girlfriend. And I’m so glad you didn’t stay away from the blogging world for long! Since I’ve won a wonderful giveaway recently, I’ll pass on this one and let a newbie get the honors!

The kitty is sooo cute! I found your link via doe-c-doe’s. My best thrifty find recently has to have been the masses of crochet threads I had been desparate to get hold of, and managed to find a basket full of them for 25p each -plus bags of 20 or so vintage Anchor soft cottons, and so much more. Apparantly I came out of the shop flushed and almost hyperventilating!

Best wishes and your site is lovely x

Thought you could hide, eh? Found ya. Will we be able to read about receeding hairline here? I’m not much for crafts, so that’s the thing from your other blog I could really relate to (not your hairline, but A’s). Our thriftiest find was last night. We got a $499 love seat for $95 at the JC Penny Outlet because the back had come unstapled and had a tear on the bottom. I’m not entering the contest, we were just stoked about our thrifty find. Take it easy.

Love the blog! My thriftiest find was two huge bags of vintage fabric at a garage sale just around the block from me. The bags were stuffed with fabric from the thirites and forties, some pieced blocks and two tops! The woman selling it had no idea what was there. What a thrill as I pulled each piece from the bag.
