I have a couple of tricks for you for quilting. When you want to sandwich your quilt,(backing, batting, & quilt top) take your backing and find a space on the floor that is big enough to lay out your quilt. Then get yourself some really wide masking tape. Now start taping your quilt backing down to the floor. I use the cement floor in the garage.(make use the fllor is clean! Also make sure that the tape will stick to the floor!) I start taping in one corner and then cross wise to the other corner. When you have your corners done start on the sides. I get my fabric tight! Then lay down the batting and then the quilt top. Bast the quilt sandwich with either safty pins or your can hand baste.
When you get ready to quilt, always start in the middle of the quilt and work out. If you have basted your sandwich together nice and tight you should not have any tucks! I learned all this from a number of quilt classes that i took. Also see if you can get yourself a grapefruit spoon. You the spoons with lots of cut outs on the sides of the spoon ofr eating grapefruit. These spoons work great for closing safty pins if you bast with saftey pins!
I hope helps! You did great on the quilt!

The quilt looks great! I'm with you on quilting on a sewing machine. I did it once, never again. I'm lucky enough to have a long arm at my disposal.

Remember that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. . .because this quilt is such a simple and stunning design and may just have to copy it!! I really like the whole idea of it. . .the monochromatic block and embroidery, etc. Thanks for sharing.
