Our 21/2 year old is the same. only at naps and night (except when the sitter puts her down for a nap, which I can't for the life of me understand why or how). Currently her one and only binky has a crack in it and it is getting bigger. We told her that this is the last binky and after it breaks there are no more, but I don't really know if she gets it. So, I guess we'll see. So far going cold turkey does not sound like such an awesome proposal to me... And as long as she isn't messing up her teeth (which i read lots of differing opinions on) I'm not so worried about it. Good luck. If you find a miracle solution let us all know!

The flowers are beautiful :)
Both of my kids are thumb suckers. My son still sucks his thumb (he'll be six this month) when he has his bear. We try to limit the bear to specific times, but we are inconsistent :/ I agree with Ann, obviously!

It's easy for me to type this because I'm looking back with rose colored glasses, my baby is 5, as you know. With that as my disclaimer... Who cares if she uses a binky to get to sleep? She really is still a baby, and it sounds like she is pretty sure she still needs it. She won't always, and then it will be easy to leave them.

If you're worried about teeth, our dentist said the time to enforce no thumb sucking (in our case) was when the baby teeth begin to fall out. You might want to ask your dentist, but that sounded reasonable to me.

Good luck!

My daughter gave hers up a couple days after her last tooth came through. She mainly used hers to chew on for the teething pain, so when she hadn't used it for a couple days, I made them disappear. Which is all to say that maybe she'll drop it on her own when she's done teething? Good luck!

My daughter ONLY had hers at nap and bedtime, and probably until she was 3. It sat in her bed. To get her to give it up on her terms, it coincided with a trip to NYC. We talked about leaving it home (I had a spare hidden in my purse!), and if she could do it, we'd CELEBRATE with ice cream, her favorite food group. She did it, and we never looked back! Key thing is to hide/throw away them all before you leave or she would find them! She actually didn't like the taste of it in her mouth after being away from it for 3 days. Good luck - it's a hard habit to break, but like you said, better than a thumb!
