Last Minute Gifts
Saturday night was the annual “holiday dinner”. Every december for the last 4 years my two dear friends Jenny and Sara and I all get together for dinner. I’d like to say that Jenny flies all the way from Seattle just for our dinners, but really it is to spend the holidays with her family- and Sara and I are so glad she comes back each year!
We went to Kabob Place, a local afgahni restaurant. Excellent food (if you are going to try it, go for their fabulous lunch buffet so you can sample everything!) and wonderful friendly service. It happened again this year (as it does every year) we some how manage to enjoy our time together so much that we are oblivious to time and other diners. We were the LAST people to leave saturday night, about 15min before closing and the owner so kindly told us that really we didn’t need to leave! And, well, if we didn’t need to change little h’s diaper we might just have kept on chatting away!
We usually exchange small gifts, and I really like to make unique gifts for my friends. This year was no exception. In addition to a set of luggage tags I made each of them a personalized key ring.
I used Vogart 221 for the monogramming, and stitched the letters onto a white wool felt. The key rings vary in size but are approx. 1.5″x2″. I sandwiched in some fusible fleece to help it keep its shape. If you don’t happen to have Vogart 221 (and because of the renewed copyright I can’t share), Sweet Jessie has a great alphabet for embroidery right HERE. It is the perfect personalized and unique last minute gift if you are looking for a quick little project!
**Local Call**
Are there any local AZ readers that will be journeying to the great State of Utah for the holidays? I have it on good authority that they sell Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper up there. I’m willing to pay cash value and a little hand made something something, for anyone who would be willing to bring me my next fix. Email me (heather-at-heatherhalesdesigns-dot-com).

Had you mentioned this last week, I would have brought them down for you since I live in Utah and am in Tempe for the holidays. I love your blog, by the way. I found it through Sarah – I grew up in Tempe (1st) ward.

I love Diet Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper! It is only available at one of the local grocery stores here and I thought that was bad. I can’t imagine not being able to have it at all. Cute key rings for your friends. Hope your family has a wonderful Christmas.
