Lamantations & Party Pretties
I can totally understand now how house remodels start….all you want to do is replace the leaking moldy vanity and sink in your 30+ year old bathroom. After many many hours of hoofing it ALL over town you realize they just don’t make vanities in the same size as your old one. Oh- and your bathroom is TEENY TINY and you can really go only an inch bigger in width unless you want to lean like the tower of Pisa when you sit on the john! But “wait,” you say, “we’ll go narrower!”, except you realize that your floor tile is CUT to fit the old vanity. They no longer sell your late 70′s sandy colored floor tile. Your husband says “It’s a small space, I can just retile the whole room”. Visions of the children using your bathroom until they are 18 while you wait for your husband to finish the project run through your head. “This”, you mutter to yourself, “this is how people end up remodeling a whole room/house, it starts with something so simple and multiplies into this!”
And, on a completely unrelated note…I sent out this lovely surprise in the mail today. The recipient has no idea its coming, so I think its safe to post.
I tried so hard to get the baby to wear it for the photo shoot but she was having NONE of that, so there it sits next to my irmi lamp. It’s hard to tell in the photo, but I sewed on pink and silver sequins randomly on the hat. Oh- and this is completely made out of cotton, NOT PAPER.
I’m hoping to make more for the shop, but in the mean time I will take custom orders if anyone is interested. I also make them with embroidered embellishments (see here). Just email me, heather-at-heatherhalesdesigns-dot-com.

That’s how EVERY room in our house started.

eeek! it’s for me!! meeeee! thanks so much Heather! I think we must have connected brains because I bought a set of paper hats from Target last week (to trace and use as the base for making fabric party hats for Livi’s birthday.) I love love this pink one. I love the sequins and the trim. Thank you so very much for the hat, the cupcake liners, and your utter sweetness! xo amy
