How We Celebrated (take 2)
We had some criteria for where we were going to celebrate our anniversary. Me: snow, I wanted to see snow. Aaron: private hot tub/jacuzzi. After some research we decided on Rocamadour, a 1940’s rock house set into the Granite Dells, just outside of Prescott. We left the kids with their Auntie (saturday morning) and headed north (sunday afternoon).
Our luxurious room had a great view of the Granite Dells, wonderful antique french furniture, a jetted tub and a heated bathroom floor! We stayed in the Trucy room which is dedicated to the Chateau the Coffey’s previously owned in France (it’s where the furniture came from). I particularly liked the stain glass windows that accented the room.
After settling in we ventured to downtown Prescott for dinner. We went to a little Spanish Tapas bar a block and a half off Whiskey Row that Mike (co-owner of the Rocamadour) recommended, El Gato Azul. While enjoying our Tapas (and fried cheesecake with prickly pear sauce-yum!), I watched out the window as the falling snow reflected off the street lights. After dinner we took full advantage of the jetted tub and wondered if there was any way we could add one to our dime sized master bath!
Before breakfast we took a quick hike around the property (don’t let my goofy expression fool you, we had a great time, but I was staring into the sun). Mike and Twila cooked us a gourmet breakfast- pears in a fresh berry puree, and german pancakes with pecans. What I anticipated to be a 30-45min breakfast turned into a 2 hour breakfast as we chatted with our gracious hosts! Mike & Twila are both phenomenal photographers and Mike explained RAW to me in a way that I was really able to grasp!
We headed for home after breakfast with plans to visit again. I’m hoping to bring my mom up the next time she is out of town. We really recommend this place if you are considering a trip to Prescott.
