It’s not quite 10am here and I am already hitting a wall. My husband got me up at 5:30am (for the record that is before the sun) to go walking this morning. It might help our bodies and our marriage, but I may have to start taking daily naps!
My sister in law Sarah is celebrating a birthday soon and I wanted to whip a little something up for her. I ran through pinterest looking for projects that I thought she would like and ran across this “Little Dumpling” bag. It was prefect, although a bit smaller than I anticipated; you can probably only get a lipstick and compact in it.
I bought a Moda mini candy pack of “Happy Go Lucky” and got to work stitching hexi’s. The mini charm pack was the prefect size and number for this zip pouch, I even had enough to have made it a bit bigger (next time). I printed my hexi’s from here for free. This English paper piecing tutorial is the method I use for making hexi’s; i know some people baste on the outside, but I prefer to stitch on the wrong side so I don’t have to take out my basting on the finished project (I’m lazy that way).
I lined it with a fat quarter from the same line and a stone colored zipper. This was the perfect project for sitting in front of the TV. I recently started watching Wallander and was content to watch old episodes while doing all the hand stitching and hand quilting.
When it was finished I slipped a gift card into the pouch and it was ready for Sarah’s birthday dinner last night!
