First of the Season

While I cooked dinner last night the kids took their inaugural dip of 2009!

from my kitchen window
(I really need to clean my kitchen window!)

We’ve had triple digit heat for a while now, so this was very refreshing!

However, I am suffering from a nasty head cold and have been a bit lethargic as of late.  Any natural cure for a sore throat?

Looks like they had fun! : )

Sorry your throat is still bothering you. Best natural treatment for a sore throat that I’ve found: hot water with lemon & honey. Not sure it will cure it, but it’s definitely soothing! I’m sure many use hot chamomile (or other similar) tea, but I’m not a big fan of tea in general so I usually stick w/ hot water.

Here are some other suggestions: http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_soret.htm . I remember Mom used to have us do the last one on the list.

Hope you are on the mend soon!

I googled ‘natural cure for a sore throat’ (I have had one too lately) and it brings up all sorts of stuff. Cayenne pepper…not even an option. Gargling with salt water seems to be the most common suggestion.
And can you please pleasssse send some of that heat down here??

OH MY HEAVENS! I am so jealous of that pool. We are still wearing our coats and the low last night was 28! Boy am I missing that AZ heat. Keep blogging about it, I am loving it.

My kids went swimming last week. I wish I had a backyard for a pool (or hot tub for that matter).

Why clean your window, your kids are going to be in the pool and I would be surprised if it stayed clean for very long.

I also enjoy hot apple cider when I have a sore throat but since it is triple digits you probably don’t want a “hot” something. Good luck.

I am not sure what you mean by natural as this is my first time here. I gargle with Listerine or other ANTISEPTIC mouth wash as long as I can stand it. I know it is for fresh breath, but it is an antiseptic…. therefore, I use it for sore throats as well as tooth pain. It has a nice numbing effect and kills germs… hopefully virus germs. Also, anything hot to drink… as hot as you can to soothe throat pain. The steam in a hot shower is helpful, too!

My Mexicans all swear by honey & lemon. Evidently it will cure anything, but sore throat is at the top of the list. I realize you posted this a few days ago, so hopefully it isn’t still bothering you!
