Craft of the Day

Despite my ever growing “To-Do” list, I took some time out for my daughter today.  I felt it prudent that she have a ric rac head band.

Pink Ric Rac & Camera

(she is gnawing on the pink plastic camera she got at the dentist office)  I measured her head- 20″ (not too far off her circumference at birth- my kids have unusually large heads at birth), cut some ric rac at 18″ and a piece of 1″ wide elastic at 1.5″.  Stitch ends of ric rac to ends of elastic-voila, new hair accessory!  I’m thinking it would also be cute with 2 strands of ric rac, you could seperate them on the head for a layered look.

I amke these too! They are so easy. I used to do them for my girls that are now 18 and 22. My 22 yr old is now expecting..I am hoping for a girl!

Anyway, they are really cute with 2-3 different colors as well. if you slightly angle the ends when you sew on the elastic, they stay seperated on the head. They are adorable. I have even embroidered them too!

Cute headband and great idea, but I just had to mention that I think it’s too flippin’ hilarious that she’s *gnawing* the toy she got from the dentist! I take it the visit went well… :0)

So cute! FYI - for those who don’t already know (H, you probably do given your love of this classic trim), but ric rac melts beautifully. After cutting your piece to the correct length, hold each end every so briefly under a flame and melt the ends to prevent fraying.

I just bought ric rac. Not for a headband but very cute idea. I think I just like the word ric rac A LOT. I maybe could have a girl if this is all it takes for a headband.
