Confessions of a Micro-managing Mother (and a winner)
Monday morning, my house.
After laying pants & a long sleeved shirt out for my son (which my son picked out) , I go in to check on him and find him in shorts and a t-shirt. The high was 58, the low was 30-something. I told him he was wearing pants. he said no. A minor monday morning battle ensued, that ended with me taking all of his shorts out of his drawer so that it would no longer be a temptation to wear shorts in the WINTER. He begrudgingly put pants on.
Fast forward to 9am Tuesday morning, where I find myself at a baby shower with a bunch of my sons-peers-mothers (did you follow that?); listening to a conversation that went something like this:
“she just won’t wear pants, I’m not going to fight her”
“exactly, its not worth the battle, if they’re cold they’ll wear pants”
“My daughter gets herself dressed, I just tell her to grab her jacket”
Needless to say I kept my big fat micro-managing mouth shut. sigh. Wednesdays high is 71 with a low of 37, I told my son he can wear whatever the heck he wants to school.
Now, on to the Holiday with Matthew Mead winner- according to the random number generator #4 Chris, of Pick up Some Creativity is the winner!! Send me your snail mail address & I’ll ship your issue out this weekend.
Thank you to everyone who participated, I loved reading your traditions- you inspired me to start some new ones at our house!

This story made me smile. I have the same ongoing issues with my kids. Luckily they don’t argue about shorts when the snow is flying. Thank you so much for the giveaway. I’m so excited to win a copy!

I have to laugh at this. My husband wears shorts all year up here so my boys think they can too. I just had to pack them all away so they wouldnt be tempted on these days when they HIGH is only in the 20s.

Glad to know I’m not alone. My son did the same thing to me this week. I guess if we have another argument about wearing shorts and tees in 36 degree weather I’ll try doing what you did and just put the summer clothes out of sight.
