Church Rummage Sale **edited
**comments are now closed, a BIG THANKS to everyone who stopped by! I will pick a winner this afternoon.**
On my way to the post office today I noticed that one of the neighborhood churches was holding a Rummage Sale. After swinging by Burger King for snacks for the little girl we stopped. Am I glad I did, check out this huge box of vintage tapes/trims and such!!
I also picked up this sweet scalloped shelf which I think will look great in the kids room after I paint it yellow.
It is a gray kind of day here in the desert, which makes me just want to crawl back into bed with a good book. Last week I devoured The Lost Mother by Mary McGarry Morris, it was so raw and so real. It brought back feelings I had forgotten that I had felt as a child. Yesterday I picked up another book by her and was disappointed to find it was an Oprah Book, I can’t put voice to why this bothers me but it does. I’m forcing myself to finish some custom orders before I can climb back into bed and read it.
A glimmer of sun was added to this cloudy day when I heard from Frances Vintage that the embroidered onesies I sold her 2 weeks ago have been selling really well and she has placed another larger order! In an effort to share that ray of sunshine with everyone I’m going to put together a Vintage Trim Box to send to one lucky reader! Leave me a comment telling me what you would like to see more of on this blog and you will be entered into the contest for the trim box. I think I’ll keep this open for a whole week, so I’ll close comments on Friday, 29 Feb. 2008.

Rummage sales are the best!
Congrats on the onsies – your work is so beautiful it doesn’t surprise me at all that they are selling like hot cakes!
I love your blog just as it is {obscure reference to “Bridget Jones”} plus I don’t need anymore stuff so don’t enter me in the giveaway…besides, I tend to just horde, someone who will actually use it should get it!
February 22nd, 2008 at 10:37 pm
I love gray days of reading in bed but it doesn’t happen where I get to actually enjoy those days in bed with a good book.
I am not surprised that your onesies are selling so greatly- I LOVE everything you make.

Just stopped by to say “thank you” for the lovely kitty – it’s so cute. And thanks for the radish too! It started my day off brilliantly! Don’t worry about entering me in the draw, it would be greedy to expect that, but I would love to see more of your finished items – your postcard was lovely and seeing WIP’s turning into finished items is great.
Thanks again – I think Kitty will become part of a workbag – I have a few, but want one that I can take to my weekly craft group with me, and this would be lovely x

The book looks, good, too. I am always interested in what others are reading. Do not let the fact that Songs was an Oprah find stop you from a good read! I often feel the same way, but this one is good.

February 27th, 2008 at 2:22 am
What I would like to see more of on your blog.. perhaps some book reviews?
When you mentioned Mary McGarry Morris I’d immediately recognized the name. I just knew I’d read something by her, but couldn’t remember the title. Then I googled her name and finally found the book- it is called A Dangerous Woman. I remember being so thoroughly creeped out by it because the main character so resembles my mother. Still, it was a great read. Creepiness doesn’t stop me from liking something.
Your blog post reminds me that I need to read more by that author.. Oh, and by the way, nice tutorials. I spent most of my youth obsessed with various crafts. I’d pick up books and follow the directions, my resulting stuff would look NOTHING like the example pictures, hehe! It’s good that you have step-by-step pictures. Those tuts make me nostalgic for that time- and in renewing my interest in crafts. It is for all ages, after all.
