Weird Foods

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

Sarah tagged me to tell the whole wide internet about 5 strange foods that I eat. I’m really not sure that I can come up with five…

1. You already know I like my pudding warm (which grosses out a lot of people).

2.Um, I’m not concerned about washing out my drinking cup if I switch beverages through out dinner (I may start with milk and then when that is gone I’ll have juice and just pour it right over the remnants of the milk)

3. I can, and will and do eat Marshmallow Fluff out of a jar.

4. I like my grilled cheese sandwiches made with Mayo.

5. I like tuna fish (I told you I couldn’t come up with five.) My husband hates tuna, so he thinks it’s gross.

Chair

Check out this great chair I bought from Stephanie at the Vintage Junque Fair on Saturday.  Their were two but the other one had already been purchased before I staked my claim on this one.  I also snagged an old small Samsonite suitcase and a few vintage children’s prints that I’ll hang in the kids room (eventually).  Hope you had a great weekend too!

Thrifty Thirfty

I drug my children thrifting today with the promise that if they were good they could pick out a book at the thrift stores.

Most of the thrifted treasures have been added to my etsy shop, red square Pyrex, Cinderella Pyrex mixing bowl, vintage fabric and linen/cotton dishtowels!! I also got a vintage cookie gun, squirter or whatever they heck they are called. I told the kids we could test it out and see what kind of fun cookies we can make!

Best find of all?  An old metal typewriter stand with fold down sides, for $2.  I’ll photograph it after I paint it, I’m thinking aqua.

Score!

Today started early for our family, my poor husband was up at 4:30am for work and used the last of the milk for breakfast. By the time the rest of us got up at 7 we realized there was nothing in the house for breakfast even if we had milk. After quickly getting everyone ready for the day we ate breakfast at Einstein Bagels, and barely made it to school on time!

After dropping the boy off at school I noticed an “Estate Sale” sign and decided to stop. Thankfully I had some cash (I rarely carry any), because I found some GREAT stuff. Here is just a small amount of what I found.

Vintage Needle Books

Needlepoint

I don’t really have an interest in this needlepoint book, I thought it said “needlework” when I bought it (that’s what happens when you are wandering around a backyard with an unfenced swimming pool and a 3yo in tow). So…I would be willing to swap it for some other craft books or vintage transfers if anyone is interested….email me or leave me a comment.  The vintage buttons on the book…those I have plans for!

Anyhoo, life has been really busy lately-hence the sparse postings. I’m working on a quilt this weekend for a baby shower next week (it seems the whole month of May is packed with baby showers), so hopefully I will have some pictures on Monday.

Have a great weekend! You know what I’ll be doing!

Thrifted Friday

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Found at a nearby Goodwill with a green tag, and low and behold, green tags were 50% off today!

Ideal California Pottery

I don’t typically buy pottery as I am not much of an enthusiast, but I really liked this piece. The aqua color and the scalloped top. I thought it would look great in the new office/sewing room. After I bought it I realized it was MARKED!

Ideal California Pottery

From what I could gather from limited googleing- this is real pottery and could be old (although I don’t think it is too old).  It does show some wear on the tops of the scallops.  Are their any pottery people out there that can tell me more?

Church Rummage Sale **edited

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

**comments are now closed, a BIG THANKS to everyone who stopped by!  I will pick a winner this afternoon.**

On my way to the post office today I noticed that one of the neighborhood churches was holding a Rummage Sale. After swinging by Burger King for snacks for the little girl we stopped. Am I glad I did, check out this huge box of vintage tapes/trims and such!!

Vintage Trims

I also picked up this sweet scalloped shelf which I think will look great in the kids room after I paint it yellow.

Scalloped Shelf

It is a gray kind of day here in the desert, which makes me just want to crawl back into bed with a good book. Last week I devoured The Lost Mother by Mary McGarry Morris, it was so raw and so real. It brought back feelings I had forgotten that I had felt as a child. Yesterday I picked up another book by her and was disappointed to find it was an Oprah Book, I can’t put voice to why this bothers me but it does. I’m forcing myself to finish some custom orders before I can climb back into bed and read it.

A glimmer of sun was added to this cloudy day when I heard from Frances Vintage that the embroidered onesies I sold her 2 weeks ago have been selling really well and she has placed another larger order! In an effort to share that ray of sunshine with everyone I’m going to put together a Vintage Trim Box to send to one lucky reader! Leave me a comment telling me what you would like to see more of on this blog and you will be entered into the contest for the trim box. I think I’ll keep this open for a whole week, so I’ll close comments on Friday, 29 Feb. 2008.

New Dresser

I finally found a dresser for my kids room!  I am so giddy, and the best part is that is was less than $100.  I was willing to pay MUCH more.
