A New Do
I need a new do. I am trying to grow my hair to all one length (the back is stacked/layered), but in the meantime the front just hangs there all limp like and looks yucky. I want to have a style cut into it while I wait for it to grow. I found a cut online that I *think* will look good. What to you think?
Current

(my 6yo took this, guess they are better photographers than I thought!)
Option#1

It is basically just adding some layers to the front and some long wispy like bangs. BUT I need you all to tell me that these really aren’t bangs, because bangs look HORRIBLE on me, I have the passport photo to prove it.
What do you think? Are there any other suggestions out there for a style to cut into my shot hair?

I am a huge fan of the long schwoopy bangs - I got some myself recently. Sometimes I just look in the mirror and think “Wow. Those bangs are awesome.” No kidding. And don’t worry that they’re called bangs. They’re nothing like they used to be.

I think that cut is very cute. I would be tempted to get it, but I’m trying to be better about not leaping all over cuts that don’t work for my hair. My hair is thinner in the front than in the back so bangs end up looking like random wisps of hair. I think the side swept bangs would look cute on you, and you could always get them cut long enough so that if they weren’t your favorite they could be grown out and blended into your hair fairly quickly!

Heather, I had short hair for a long time though curlier than yours. For some reason I always kept the front longer (to my chin) and the back shorter, to be off my neck and utilize a spunky look if I felt like it. Then I could always tuck the front behind my ears, wear it in bobby pins and barrettes etc. Bangs always feel so exposed and final to me. A good hair dresser can blend the shorter back into the front so it is just right, nothing too extreme, just gradual. Something to think about. Good luck!

Go for the not bangs! They are long enough to where it will grow out fast: )
Let us know how it goes, I was thinking of doing the same thing.

That’s a great picture your little guy took! That blue looks fabulous on you.
I say go for the cut. It’s super cute! We’ll call them long front layers, or fringe, so you don’t have to have bangs.

I broke down and got long bangs last summer… and I keep wondering why it took me so long. It took me a while to get used to not being able to push them behind my ear, but other than that it was easy. You should try them - with chin length hair, they grow back fast

Really cute Option #1. So fresh and modern. Go for it! Can’t wait to see the pic!

Go for it girl! At the end of the day - it grows back. If it looks naff (which, for the record, it wont..)you can always put a cute clip in it til it grows again. I am the worst person to ask about hair as I’ve had some pretty wierd hairstyles, and as for colours…. By the way, it’s nice putting a face to the blog, if you know what i mean xx

Long, wispy bangs are definitely the way to go.
I’m growing my hair out too and to break up the monotony of my do, I started layering my bangs, instead of keeping them short and straight across.
I think layering would be great for you! And this is just my personal opinion, mind you, but I think some sharp, blonde highlights would add beautiful contrast and look awesome on you!
Be sure to post a fabulous after pic!

Lovely haircut, it would suit you too! Mine is way too curly for most contemporary styles. It’s only nice, smooth and straight when I walk out of the salon.

Are you sure it’s the bangs or the highlights that attract you about this do? You might just see if a little bit of highlights or lowlights would be enough of a change for you before you actually cut it. I agree with the others though, it will grow if you don’t like it. It looks like you found your photographer! What a great pic!

I say go for it! Its a really cute cut & I think it will be very flattering on you. I have always figured, its hair…it’ll grow back so I’ve tried some different things & learned what I like & don’t like - but you won’t know until you try!
Make sure your 6 year old takes another photo to show us what you ended up deciding to do {great shot by the way & I agree, that color looks awesome on you!}…

I had a bob pretty similar to yours and last week told my girl, “I need chunky layers!” and I got my sway bangs back too…I always opt for chunkier layers because they’re easier to blend back in when growing out. Same with the bangs. Go fer it!
Can’t wait to see pics!
Oh, and I tagged you on my blog.
